Down The Tracks 36 X 48 oil, graphite M.Allison contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com mallisonartist.com I must've been really excited when I painted this! I love the looseness and scribble and all the fun colors and for some reason I love telephone poles.
Garden Variety 36 X 36 oil, graphite M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com Recently I'm into flowers. Not really real ones with certain names, just abstract splashes of color suggesting flowers. They're 'happy paintings'!
Texas Plains 48 X 48 oil and graphite M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com This is actually painted from a photo taken in Schulenburg, Tx. I've done a couple of others from this same farm, but in this one the sky is totally different and it was captivating. Love Texas!
M.Allison Uphill 36 X 42 oil I've been painting abstract landscapes with a very low horizon line and now I'm doing some with a very high horizon line. I really like the 'extreme' look of both. I can take oodles of photos, but when it comes down to the actual painting, I just seem to draw two or three lines to get started. Love to finish with my 'signature' scribble!
Two Pair 30 X 40 oil, acrylic M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com
From my new series (yet untitled). I love to paint pears and have done them in many ways. This painting happened to be one that, when I thought I had finished, I didn't like. It happens and I really don't like it when that happens. I repainted it and now I do like it. Floating pears, suspended pears, whatever. I think it's fun.
I Just Want One 20X24 oil, acrylic M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com This is one from my new series (that I haven't officially titled yet but am just calling it 'Collection' for now) and the only figurative so far. I painted this background with an acrylic glaze, then when it's almost dry I wipe off whatever is still wet. It makes a really interesting 'under painting' that I,m pretty fond of. I then paint away!
Three Vases 40X16 oil M.Allison contact me for purchase or commissions: allison@mallisonartist.com mallisonartist.com Going crazy (literally) with my splashy new stuff. Somewhat absract, somewhat realistic...but that's what I call myself - an abstract realist. I do use a glaze for the underpainting so I guess this is mixed media. Actually, I painted this first with, I think every color on my palette, and was NOT pleased, so I scraped it off and started over, and now I like it. Worth the paint and the time!
The Dance 14 X 14 oil, graphite M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com Wow! You never know. This painting has been chosen as a book cover - y'all may just see this on the stands one day. I must say that I've never had this privilege before and I'm pretty proud! It's just a shot in the dark (a rare thing) when I can paint something in just a few minutes and have it be a favorite. I think the stars and the moon and all that cosmic stuff just lines up!
Field of Flowers 24 X 26 oil M.Allison contact me for purchases and commissions: allison@mallisonartist.com This is one of my new series and I can't think of a good name for it! It's splashy, muted, whimsical, somewhat abstract yet still realistic and so fun to paint. I've done several and have now done a figurative. Will post that one soon. Oh, the places we'll go!
I Saw It At Night 48 X 36 oil and graphite M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me for purchase and commissions: allison@mallisonartist.com A very serene and moody abstract landscape. Another apology for the photo because the details are really nice and crisp. This happens to be one of my favorites!
Under The Sky 48 X 48 Oil and Acrylic M.Allison mallisonartist.com, mallison.artspan.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com So... a 'cool' color painting that reminds me of some people in a field of flowers, or...maybe they're (the people) are just more flowers. These cool colors seem very desirable with decorating I've done (my other form of art). Soothing and peaceful to go with contemporary and traditional ideas. Go for it!
Orange Stripes 48 X 48 oil and acrylic M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com Splashy and fun to do, I must say. I haven't stretched this one yet, hence the little ole' wrinkles, but you get the picture. I'm calling this an abstract, but it could be a floral too - whatever you think. Again done with leftover paint which is so interesting to me (plus some new paint). I didn't draw it this time, just let it evolve and I'm happy with it!
Morning 24 X 24 Oil M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com I sat up this still life from things I found around the house. I pretty much started painting years ago using a black background and still love doing that, although I've graduated to other colors. I rarely paint on a white background, even though I usually cover the entire canvas. I have my favorite background colors. My favorite object in this painting is the wooden spoon. I found it years ago at a flea market or antique store or somewhere - it's been so long, but it's thick and heavy and has lot's of character. I need to find more 'stuff'!
Way long time ago, my sister Karen and I painted murals and wall finishes and as of late, we were asked to paint a canvas for a new restaurant in Houston - MODERNO. We had such fun doing it! Painted in my art studio, hence the crazy walls in the background. M.Allison/Karen Novak
My Spot 57 X 23 oil M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com I love the water and love to paint the water. I would like this to be me sitting there, a beautiful town in the distance and the wind slightly blowing, contemplating all the world's peace and confusion.
A Safe Haven 36 X 40 Oil, Graphite M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com This really leaves a lot to the imagination, even to mine. I can create a million (maybe a little less) places where this could be and I like the mystery of that. I think this may be a take-off of my Abstract Landscape series - a little more muted and undefined.
Concerto 30 X 32 Oil, Graphite M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com I was asked to do a demonstration at the Brenham Art League in Texas and was given an hour to paint and instruct. Wow - that's not much time! I did tweek this somewhat when I got back to the studio, but basically this was it. The reason I really like this is because it gives the impression of many different things. Some see cows, some see trees, but more than a few see pianos, hence the title. I tell you what - it was really fun to do and the people there were great. I'm going to do a workshop there on August 21st. Get your seats now!
Life on the Hill 20 X 24 oil M.Allison mallisonartist.com Contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com As I worked on this painting, I got a call from my sister and she said, 'How's it coming?'. My reply was 'not liking it'. That little intercession gave me a new view and I began reworking the whole thing and ended up very pleased with it. Just goes to show. It can always be revamped!
Bowl of Eggs 20 X 24 oil M. Allison contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com mallisonartist.com I rarely do Still Lives (lifes ?) but I loved doing this one and will do more. I seem to go in spurts of blogging (wish I could be more consistent). I always vow to do better so stay tuned!
'Unreal World' 24 X 36 Oil and Palette Knife M. Allison allison@mallisonartist mallisonatist.com 713.240.4221 Add another one to my Abstract Landscape Series. This one is totally abstract with no realism but it gives so many suggestions of what it could be. Honestly, the whole painting is lighter, but my skills as a photograher is still questionable! I just finished a workshop at the Galveston Art League and will do another one in July or August. It was really fun and great people. I'm also judging their Spring Show and the reception is May 3. Another one day workshop lined up in Brenham at the Brenham Art League on August 21st (and....only 50.) teaching how to paint Abstract Landscapes. Come join in the fun!

Works on Paper IV 22 X 28 acrylic and graphite This is my fourth and last painting on paper for awhile. Back to canvas for now! M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com, 713.240.4221
Works on Paper III 22 X 28 acrylic and graphite I have painted this same photo a lot. Three of these are my daughters. Haven't lmet the lady under the purple umbrella yet! M. Allison mallisonartist.com allison@mallisonartist.com, 713.240.4221
Works on Paper I 22 X 18 acrylic and graphite Someone suggested I do some paintings on paper and so I have. They are fun, but I find I spend just about the same amount of time on these as I do on canvas paintings. It's good practice, tho'. M. Allison allison@mallisonartist.com, 713.240.4221 mallisonartist.com, mallison.artspan.com, cfai.co
Something new - shoes. These ballet shoes send you into a world of what these shoes do and they bring a smile. And...another monochromatic (or kinda). Passionate Dance 20 X 20 X 3 oil M. Is this desperate? I took theses objects out on the driveway to get the great shadows and took a photo. I could use a shadowbox! I love monochromatic - may do a series. My Abstsract Landscape series. What could it be? Maybe farmland, a city on the water, downtown in the distance - you decide! At The End Of The Rainbow 24 X 36 oil and graphite M. 'Carpe Diem' 42 X 32 This one is a little different design than my other Abstract Landscapes using many more colors and shapes in the background. Idea: hang this in any direction (upside down, vertical...) and it becomes quite another look! Endless possibilities! M. Allison mallisonartist.com contact me for purchase, commission and financing: allison@mallisonartist.com 713.240.4221
Let There Be Light 24 X 30 oil on canvas M. Allison Well..a photo taken from my own house. When in doubt, photograph things in your house. I'm always looking at the light and shadow on everything and this to me was pretty dramatic! Check out me in the mirror! contact me for purchase, commissions, financing and shipping allison@mallisonartist.com 713.240.4221
I almost named this 'Can You Find The Rose?' Well, can you? I find that flowers are less taxing to paint say than anything else. Don't really know why. I suppose I mean abstract flowers, b/c realistic ones are hard for me! Lollipop Flowers 24 X 36 oil M. Allison contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com, mallison.artspan.com, cfai.co, 713.240.4221
Texas Oil I painted this from a photo I took around Boliver, Tx. When you're from Texas, this makes you feel at home! 30 X 38 oil M. Allison contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com 713.240.4221
