Flowers in the Forest 48 X48 oil and oil pastel M.Allison mallisonartist.com allison@mallisonartist What's it called - Sfumato? Well it's the blurring of edges in a painting and I love to paint using this technique. To me it gives the illusion of reality or the illusion of abstract. Read what you want to and your imagination can run away with you!
My Foggy Beach 36 X 48 oil M.Allison mallisonartist.com allison@mallisonartist.com I love the beach even when it's Galveston. It's not the prettiest, but it's ours and we claim it! I don't live so close to Galveston anymore, but I do live by a beautiful lake in the Texas hill country and I feel so lucky. Lots of different scenery here and soon I'll be painting the lake and all it has to offer, and maybe even a few little bambies!

I am beginning to post small paintings I've done recently painted on board. These
are fun to do and they are small enough that they can be put on easels or
framed.
'Long Stems' 30 X 40 oil, graphite M.Allison mallisonartist.com allison@mallisonartist.com This was taken from a photo and stylized and re-stylized to create obscurity and abstract shapes. I'm using my 9B graphite pencil more and more these days - so fun to scribble!
Wandering Pears 30 X40 oil M.Allison mallisonartist.com allison@mallisonartist.com OK, so this painting was a trifle difficult! I painted and painted, and seemed to be getting nowhere. In frustration, I just took my trusty palette knife and scraped the many layers of paint off and was left with a much lighter and ethereal painting. Well, it was much better and I added some detail and there you have it! My sister came over and loved it (crazy what others may think) ! Let it be and low and behold it SOLD! You never know!
Reflections 48 X 50 Oil M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com I have created a new underpainting that creates a background to work with showing a layered look. This will be dubbed as one in my 'Abstract Landscape' series. I want this one for myself and I have a fabulous frame that my ever so talented brother-in-law made for me years ago. Sounds crazy because I could certainly sell this and paint another one for myself which I just might do! I've also used a little palette knife for pop.
Purity 30 X 40 oil M.Allison contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com mallisonartist.com I'm painting more flowers now than ever and in an abstract, splashy and obscure way. All I can say is that they are really fun to paint!
And the Sun Reflects 40 X 40 oil, metallic M.Allison mallisonartist.com contact me: allison@mallisonartist.com Well...I have been away from blogging for awhile, but am back! It's not from lack of painting, but sometimes funny things just get in the way. I've begun to use metallics again and to me it just adds a little elegance!

I'm stuck at home without a car for a few days and there's no decision about going anywhere and Iove it! Paint, blog, paint, blog! Trying to blog on my iPad is a bit challenging, so I'm muddling through, but kinda getting it!
