I have done this same theme of Texas and longhorns, cows

and the oil industry several times, but in this one I

decided to heat it up with vibrant colors and some excitement.

What's it called - Sfumato?  Well it's the blurring of edges
in a painting and I love to paint using this technique.  To me it gives the
illusion of reality or the illusion of abstract.  Read what you 
want to and your imagination can run away with you!

I love the beach even when it's Galveston.  It's not
the prettiest, but it's ours and we claim it!  I don't live 
so close to Galveston anymore, but I do live by a beautiful
lake in the Texas hill country and I feel so lucky.  Lots
of different scenery here and soon I'll be painting the lake
and all it has to offer, and maybe even a few little bambies!

I was asked to do a demonstration at the Brenham Art League
in Texas and was given an hour to paint and instruct.  Wow - that's
not much time!  I did tweek this somewhat when I got back to the
studio, but basically this was it.  The reason I really like this is because
it gives the impression of many different things.  Some see cows, 
some see trees, but more than a few see pianos, hence the title.  I tell
you what - it was really fun to do and the people there were great.
I'm going to do a workshop there on August 21st.  Get your seats now!

As I worked on this painting, I got a call from my sister and she said, 'How's
it coming?'.  My reply was 'not liking it'. That little intercession gave me a 
new view and I began reworking the whole thing and ended up very pleased
with it.  Just goes to show.  It can always be revamped!
