to create obscurity and abstract shapes.  I'm using my 9B
graphite pencil more and more these days - so fun to scribble!

So... a 'cool' color painting that reminds me of some people in a field
of flowers, or...maybe they're (the people) are just more flowers.  These cool 
colors seem very desirable with decorating I've done (my other form of art).
  Soothing and peaceful to go with contemporary and traditional ideas.

Splashy and fun to do, I must say.  I haven't stretched this one yet,
hence the little ole' wrinkles, but you get the picture.  I'm calling this
an abstract, but it could be a floral too - whatever you think.  Again done
with leftover paint which is so interesting to me (plus some new paint).
I didn't draw it this time, just let it evolve and I'm happy with it!

I love to do paintings with leftover paint, although I still have to 

add new paint. Just went a little crazy on this one and it was

so much fun!  Graphite makes great shadows and great 

scribbles and there you have it!

I was asked to do a demonstration at the Brenham Art League
in Texas and was given an hour to paint and instruct.  Wow - that's
not much time!  I did tweek this somewhat when I got back to the
studio, but basically this was it.  The reason I really like this is because
it gives the impression of many different things.  Some see cows, 
some see trees, but more than a few see pianos, hence the title.  I tell
you what - it was really fun to do and the people there were great.
I'm going to do a workshop there on August 21st.  Get your seats now!

that flowers are less taxing to paint say than anything else. Don't really
know why.  I suppose I mean abstract flowers, b/c realistic ones are

You're probably wondering what my From Within style is so I will give you a
little explanation:  There are actually 2 paintings here, one on the bottom and another
on the top.  I choose what I want from the underpainting using a product and then
redesign it for the finished painting.  See it to believe it.  I am doing a workshop on
this technique at the Green House Gallery November 30th and December 1  
in Houston.  Sign up!  Too bad about the accent light on the ceiling - it looks great
in the room, but diminishes some of the art in the photo.
