First Stage Figurative Pencil Sketch by Texas Artist M. Allison

This is the first time I have posted art in the stages
I work in.  I grabbed a canvas and began to sketch, which
I love to do.  Now...I can't decide what to do with this.
I can leave it alone or use thinned oils and let the pencil be an
integral part of the painting, or maybe do it in heavy oils.

I have begun yet another 'series' and that is clothes that I choose 
to call 'Frocks".  Problem is, what do I call the men's frocks?
Certainly not 'frocks' so any suggestions would be much appreciated!
This is fun - I just peruse my closet and drag out something and hang it up!
I plan on doing a commission for a friend that has requested 
I paint her wedding dress.  I have made, yes made, frames for these
'frocks' from old shutter slats and I love them!  So... now I'm a carpenter!  
Will post photo of those later.

I'm hooked on these old doors!  Done in
 acrylic and texture, these take a while to
measure and get the proportions right, 
but they dry fast.  Since I usually paint
in oil, this is a treat.  This is part of my
'Door Series', such a clever name!

Muted and foggy in Harbortown.  This is one of the largest paintings
that I've painted.  BIG!  It's the most recent in my 
Abstract Landscapes series, although is has a little abstract and
a little realism.

The collaged background of this painting is done in an old
yellowed dress pattern I found of my grandmother's (Bawmaw)
who used to make all my clothes.  It seemed perfect
for this subject because I knew I wanted
to paint her enveloped in a wrap.  She needs a dress, 
don't you think?
